JMCrocker Mission
JMCrocker was started from the passion to help create a work environment that felt less like a battle against the machine and more about the connection with clients and colleagues. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “This should be easier, why is it so hard?”, it’s rarely you. It’s usually a system that was never built around how you work, admin that nobody has had time to clear, or tools that never quite fit together. Fixing that is only part of the benefits. The other part is what it frees you up for: time to sit down with a client properly, to help a colleague, to enjoy the work again.

Here’s a little about the person behind it.
About Jess
At university I had three very different roles: barista, student representative and volunteer at a women’s shelter. I helped new and international students settle in, organised and spoke at leadership events, and ran game nights for the women and children at the shelter. None of it was business systems, but it taught me things worth knowing: patience with stressed people, how to speak to a room, and how to listen before offering any kind of insight.
I went on to study cognitive neuroscience, the scientific study of how the brain gives rise to thinking and behaviour: how we perceive, learn, remember, pay attention and make decisions. Alongside my studies, I became head of admin and finance at a mortgage and insurance firm, where that turned out to be most of the job. Around twenty independent advisers each ran things their own way, and keeping compliance, commissions and communication lined up meant constantly asking people to notice, remember and decide.
Now I work in the gap between the people who choose or build systems and the people who have to use them. One group explains it one way, the other experiences it another, and that’s where things go wrong. I’ve spent my career in that gap, getting people talking to their systems and their systems talking to people.
